USC Cinema-TV alum, television producer, smart-ass.

Robert Redford's passing (Gene Hackman's too) braces us for the end of a great era. Consider: Clint Eastwood is 95 Robert Duvall is 94 Jack Nicholson is 88 Warren Beatty is 88 Dustin Hoffman is 88 Jane Fonda is 87 Al Pacino is 85 Faye Dunaway is 84 Robert DeNiro is 82 *Sigh*

The amazing actress who starred opposite Marlon Brando in "On The Waterfront" 72 years ago has left us. What a career, what a life. RIP.

USC football has reached “the definition of insanity” territory. We keep expecting a different result but every game plays out the same. These next 6 games are going to determine whether we can bust out of that narrative or not. I’d love to believe we will…but I’m insane?

My “baby steps” comment was sarcastic but a few thought I was serious. There’s obviously no such thing as “baby steps” in year FIVE. We’re all grasping at straws here, baby.
If it’s any consolation…this is a game USC likely loses the last 2-3 seasons (a la Penn St at home). Just as Rutgers was two weeks ago (à la Maryland or Minnesota on the road). So…progress? USC isn’t a great team by any stretch, but they’re surviving. Baby steps, friends.

The defense made some plays on that last series of downs and USC comes out with the win. The team desperately needed to win; I don’t want to even think about what a loss would have meant for the trajectory of the season. Onward…shakily…but onward nonetheless. Fight On.

You think you’ve seen it all, and then you watch your defense give up a 43-yd pass play…on 4th-and-2.

Maiava and Hines have missed on 2 connections in the last couple minutes - one was Hines’ fault, one was Jayden’s fault. The first cost us a TD, the 2nd cost us a key 3rd down conversion. Just not fully in sync tonight.

Our best pass rush is when we blitz Alex Graham from the nickel spot. Huge sack there.

Kam Crawford is going up against true freshman Kodi Greene from Mater Dei tonight, a 5-star tackle. He has been winning that battle, but he had a chance to disengage and get a sack on that 2nd down pass play. That’s what separates pressures from sacks.

USC suffering too many negative plays on offense. Mostly in the screen game. We need to re-think what we’re doing on some of those, defenses are having no trouble reading them and attacking them with force. For every 1 successful one, 4 are blown up.

Tabaracci with the Tyree helmet catch there. Huge play for Trojans.

USC getting something going…then the inevitable (holding) penalty. 1st and 20. This team just hates having success.

These behind-the-scrimmage throws to the right have been dangerous adventures all season for USC. Riley loves calling them but all they do, seemingly, is get our WR’s/TE’s killed, because defenses are not fooled at all, they’re attacking them downhill.

We miss Mark Bowman’s blocking from the TE spot tonight. And his receiving. And his everything.

This is the best run defense I’ve ever seen Braylan Shelby play. The senior has made some nice stops tonight.

If I’m not mistaken, 2-pt conversions are run from the 2-yard line, but Lincoln Riley treats them like they’re at midfield. A WR misdirection/pitch reverse? But hey, it only lost 7 yds. Boobie Feaster keeps getting handed these gadget plays. I’d rather they let him be a WR.

Elijah Newby with some real nice plays tonight. His sack caused that fumble/TD return. He got pressure earlier in the game as well. I think Gary Patterson needs to continue getting him reps.

Not sure why Riley went for 2 there, I’m sure he’ll say it’s analytics, but if we go up 23-21 we may be wishing we had that extra point on the board. But I digress. Let’s score more TD’s and make all of that a moot point, please. Please?
