In April 2025, James Shannon Farthing won Kentucky’s largest-ever Powerball jackpot, $167.3 million.
Days later, he was arrested in Florida after allegedly kicking a sheriff’s deputy in the face. He later pleaded guilty to battery and resisting an officer.
The arrests kept coming.
In February 2026, Farthing was charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process.
The following month, he was arrested again after a woman accused him of breaking into her Lexington home and stealing thousands of dollars.
But that burglary case collapsed.
The woman later testified that she had found the missing money elsewhere, and the burglary charge was dismissed.
Then, in July 2026, Farthing was arrested again after a woman accused him of strangling and assaulting her during an argument.
He pleaded not guilty.
Just over a year after becoming a multimillionaire, Farthing had been arrested four separate times, with several cases still working their way through court.
