Father, husband and retired high school teacher. Experience has left me old, grumpy but still foolishly optimistic.

Don’t know about all the rest of you out there in Xerland, but I’m completely comfortable giving an octogenarian who struggles with spell check complete control over the development of AI.

The story is that there are ~ 250,000 people in the states of CA, NJ, PA and NV that are registered to vote but might not be citizens. There is NO evidence any of them did vote. Those 4 states have combined voter registrations of ~39million. That’s less than a .01% error rate.

Dear Dems, Please stop the infighting. You’re letting the GOP/MAGA team define you (again) with terms like “woke” and “communist” while labeling themselves as “patriots.” Address issues that daily affect people. Develop an Anti-Project 2025 platform and rub their noses in it.

I remember the Bicentennial. The nation had been through some tough times with Vietnam, Watergate and the whole 60s thing. It was at least as divided as it is today. The Bicentennial was used to bring us together, not drive us further apart. Missing Gerry Ford just now.

Starmer is toast and Trump’s approval is in the toilet. Why? Western societies have recreated the Gilded Age of a century and half ago. Tremendous wealth for the few, treadmill for the rest. The rest are tired of running as hard as they can to stay in place.

In 1945, a failing president Roosevelt traveled to Yalta and tried to use his charm to influence Stalin to behave himself after the Nazi collapse. Stalin proved completely immune to FDR’s charm offensive. Wonder if there are current parallels?

Dear Dems, Please be for something, not just against Trump. Draft a platform that resonates with the majority of people. Run on economic issues- like healthcare, daycare, wages and housing, not culture war issues. Do not let the GOP define you, be proactive, not reactive.

Any government that must turn its guns on its own people to stay in power has forfeited all legitimacy.

Dear Dems, Time to stop the posturing. It’s becoming counter productive. Just make sure that everyone understands that when they see their premiums over the next weeks, they understand that it’s the GOP that is responsible. Or call their bluff and have them show their plan.

The one thing authoritarians can’t stand is to be laughed at and made the butt of jokes. They want to push you around until you strike out. Then they can justify whatever they have the power to do to you. But making them look ridiculous makes ‘em nuts. Keep it up.

Dear Dems, As you search for your soul, please keep in mind that campaigning on social issues and against authoritarianism will not win you the Whitehouse. Americans care much more deeply about the price of groceries and gasoline. It is indeed “the economy, stupid.”

Dear Dems, Please don’t fight another battle you can’t win. Sure, the regime is pushing legal limits, but as Nixon proved way back in ‘68, portraying the Dems as soft on crime is a winner. The fact that crime rates are falling doesn’t outweigh the perception that they’re not.

Interesting how Tulsi Gabard’s “disclosure” about Russian interference was released just as the Epstein scandal was reaching fever pitch. Obviously it’s an attempt to try to change the subject. They’re hoping we’re as easily distracted as a cat with a laser.

Anyone realize that it costs about $100,000 an hour to operate a B-2 bomber and about $40,000 per hour to operate an F-35? The publicity stunt flyover on the 4th cost about half a million of our hard earned dollars.

Maslow said there was a hierarchy of needs. Growth requires security. Trump won because of inflation and economic uncertainty. It’s hard to care about others when you don’t feel secure. The macro economic numbers are good. Dems forgot that families don’t live in that world.

The re-election of Donald Trump is not some fluke. We knew exactly what was in the package and we bought it anyway. If you’re happy with your new purchase, I hope your optimism is borne out. If you’re not, you must design a better product and sell it.

America voted for change. Last year Argentina also voted for change. Some people around Trump have pointed to those changes as a model for America. Be careful what you wish for.

Dear Dems, let’s not waste energy with circular firing squads, weeping and wailing. Tuesday just reflected where America is. A better use of our energies would be showing America how to be better. We should show our fellow citizens how to embrace the future without fearing it.

If the election is as close as predicted, and Trump loses, he’ll try to tie things up with dozens of law suits in both federal and state courts claiming fraud. If those cases last into January, the House decides. Each state gets one vote. More red states, so Trump wins.

Dear Kamala, focus on the future, not on the fascist. First, it puts Trump in the spotlight- free coverage and clicks. Second, many seem fine with his authoritarian, nationalist message. For those who are still undecided, talk about your plans for the future, not Trump.
