It's a good time to restate: Trump CANNOT and DOES NOT see beyond himself. He is NOT strategic - he is transactional. He is a walking talking "id." He only pivots from self-interest, and cannot shut up or stop, even when it serves his interest. He is a dangerous malignant narcissist, who is returning to power during cognitive decline, OWNED by disorders.

JUST IN: The long-running back and forth dispute over the Missouri map has mercifully ended. SCOTUS has REJECTED the Trump-backed Missouri congressional map. Again. Once more. For the final time.

The GOP has announced that Trump will personally speak at campaign rallies in Alabama and Oklahoma. Most of the coverage of this story suggests that races there have tightened. Bullshit. They're telling Trump they need him to go there because no other places, where races HAVE tightened, want him anywhere near them.

The history of these days will certainly speak to the cult; how easily they were gaslit; how they rallied around petty grievance; how they railed against their own interests; how they suppressed reasoned thought; how they succumbed - in so many ways - to a flawed and obvious con. History will also certainly speak to the enablers, some of whom pursued proximity to power, some of whom were seduced by opportunistic grift, some of whom caved and capitulated out of misplaced fear, and all of whom pursued personal gain above a greater collective good. But it remains to be seen whether history ever speaks to the true unforeseen disaster of these days, one which I shake my head at continually, which is the shameless, consistent, and widespread normalization of a madman.

Psychology is a science. The DSM-V is a brilliant analysis and text. Cluster B disorders are horrific traits to be held by people in charge of others. People call Trump a liar, fraudster, sexual deviant, and lifelong criminal - when those are just symptoms. Even those epithets normalize him. Not only does his aberrant pathology explain him, but it predicts his actions. It's confounding how little it enters into America's daily discourse - not the outrage, not the symptoms, but the underlying pathological roots. I ask, however rhetorically, WTF is wrong with us, and how do we learn?

The Xi "summit" has ended. Utterly pointless visit. Purely pageantry and narcissistic recuperation for an old man in decline. An embarrassment for us. But, like with all things involving Trump, I suppose it could have been worse.

Every single day during the presidency of Joe Biden, the Strait of Hormuz was open. Biden never pushed to have his face on coins and likeness on monuments, nor did he threaten to bulldoze a building if his name didn't get put up upon it. Every day during the presidency of Joe Biden, diplomacy was a valid tactic, empathy was a positive human emotion, science was a respected authority, math was calculated correctly, English wasn't butchered, and reasoned thought wasn't suppressed in an effort to divide the electorate with tribal contrarianism. Biden never renamed bodies of water or scientific terminology. And Biden never accidentally confused one of his ex-wives with a woman he raped.

It's important for us to remember that besides being a narcissist, sociopath, grifter, rapist, traitor, and serial criminal, he's also an idiot.

"I said to Trump, you know, 4 days before the war started, if you do this, you know, the United States will be kicked out of the Gulf. The American Empire will begin to collapse. Your legacy will be destroyed along with your party. I said this to Trump to his face in the Oval Office days before the war began, and he looked at me and said, 'Yes, you're right. But in the end, we all die anyway, so it doesn't matter.' That's exactly what he said. 'In the end, we all die anyway.'" Tucker Carlson, in an interview released yesterday with NPR

Watch this :30 commercial and you'll understand why Kansas is in play. Roger Marshall is an exceptionally bad Senator and Senatorial candidate - he might even be the worst, if not for Ken Paxton.
Meischa was Roger Marshall's patient. This is her story.

Nice to see him starting to name names ...
There are three dozen men’s names redacted in this Epstein file. Presumably they were mostly witnesses interviewed. But Richard Kahn is one of the names. So is Leslie Groff. There’s no reason their names should be redacted. Where are the interview notes? justice.gov/epstein/files/Da…

Good morning. The air is fresh. My dog is a good boy. I've lost count as to how often Trump has embarrassed the United States. The fact that he is surrounded by sycophants who only admit that embarrassment privately, makes it a little worse. The fact that millions of Americans see reality as concocted through Trump's skewed pathologies, and don't feel or suppress the embarrassment, makes it worse still, and is a major reason why the America Experiment finds itself in its current predicament. Yesterday, we saw an old and abnormal man who is an unserious leader showing deference to a serious one, a rival. The pageantry was high; the substance was low. The old and abnormal man was dominated by his pathologically unquenchable thirst for respect and legitimacy. He'd like it through merit, but it will never be. His unserious and abnormal way of legitimizing himself yesterday was to share his partisan humor in the photo insulting Biden, his pseudo-bravery in his photo from Butler, and his prowess in naming things like turning AI into SI. The serious rival nodded and smiled and played along, recognizing the absurdity. Trump regaled the serious rival with a Who's Who of dignitaries and magnates. Was he inferring that he was the epicenter of money, technology, and the future? Perhaps, but his real inference was "look at all the important people who come when called because they like me and respect me." This was about everything BUT the future. This was a dying narcissist sucking up energy, fantasizing about legacy, oblivious to any and all considerations that doesn't directly and daily dominate his impulses and cravings. My late grandmother would wave her arm in disgust and say: "Oy!" "Oy" indeed.

I think we can safely conclude now that Scott Jennings' representation that he had a 20-minute conversation with Mitch McConnell in July, was an out-and-out lie.

When I think about MAGA, I think mostly about its dwindling numbers, and when I wonder about those that are still hardcore supporters, I don't ask myself how they can vote for him. Because more often than not, the answer is that they have been fearmongered and fallen for the demonization of the Left. What I wonder about instead, are three things: How can they think he is competent? How can they think he's honest? How can they think he cares about them? And here's what I have concluded, which is sad: Many of them DON'T think he's competent, or honest, or that he cares about them. But they've gotten sucked into the negative, the dopamine, and the imitating of his pathology. And that's now they're world view, and they're stuck. They're afraid that if they give that up, they're either admitting fault they cannot bear to admit (much like him), or they're afraid of being directionless, with nothing left.

This is a far more judgmental post than I usually make. So, it's worth noting that the % that strongly supports him now, is polling at 13%. Those people feel so vested, they've suspended reasoned thought. Most others that still support him are feeling some cognitive dissonance.
