Its Aurus day in #brawlhalla land! Here's my original pitch sketch for him, from all the way back during our Chakram creative push phase. Didn't quite go full Rygar, but we got pretty close I'd say.

Just want everyone to know I put in a lot of elbow grease to get these ghost dog heads animated *and* recoloring :)

【メタスラチームが作った最後のゲーム】 メタスラチームといえば『ネオジオ』に骨を埋めた、というイメージが強くありますが、実は一時期『ゲームボーイアドバンス』の開発をしていたことがあるんですよ。 そのゲームの名は『ナビ之介』といいます。 『ナビ之介』は、当時『ゲームボーイアドバンス』にGPSユニットを接続して遊ぶという、かなり野心的な構想からスタートした企画でした。 「こんなゲームを作ってほしい」と渡された企画書には、日本全国の偉人を題材に、GPSと連動して遊ぶという、当時としてはかなり先を見据えたRPGの内容が記されていました。 その企画書を見た私は「これ、妖怪ものにした方が絶対面白くなります」と提案し、テーマを偉人ものから妖怪ものへと変更してもらったんです。そしてこのゲームは、陰陽師を夢見る少女の魂が宿った木偶人形が、妖怪たちを封印したり、仲間にしたりして世直ししながら日本列島を行脚するという、『和風ファンタジーRPG』として動き出すことになったんです。 ところが、開発途中でGPSユニットの話自体が立ち消えになってしまい、肝心の“全国を歩いて妖怪と出会う”という中核要素が実現不可能になってしまったんです…。ゲームそのものの存続も危ぶまれましたが、GPS連動抜きで遊べるゲームに改造して開発続行となり、完成に至ったのですが、諸事情があり最終的に『ナビ之介』はお蔵入りとなってしまいました。 …今思えば、もしあのまま開発が続いていたら、“歩くことをゲームに変えた”遊びが、『ポケモンGO』より15年も早く形になっていたのかもしれませんね。 もちろん、ウチの不気味な妖怪たちが社会現象となった愛されキャラ『ポケモン』のようになれる未来はありませんが…。 改めて考えてみると、『ナビ之介』というゲームは２０数年前メタスラチームが作った最後のゲームということになるんですよね。 長年ランガンを作り続けてきたメタスラチームが、最後の最後に手がけたのは、意外にも『和風ファンタジーRPG』。そんなゲームで幕を下ろしたメタスラチーム…、ちょっと切ないんですが、我々が作った型破りなホンワカ妖怪ゲームを覗いてみたくなりませんか？ ゲーム中のシナリオは、私が書いてますので、そりゃもうバカバカしくてナンセンス、頭がおかしくなるかもしれません。 そういえば当時、ゲームが更新される度に小さな2人の娘にテストプレイして貰ってたんですが、「 父ちゃんのお話、怖くて、変で、面白い！ 」と大絶賛してくれたんです。それもそのはず娘にウケるように書いてましたから当然なんですが、あんなに喜んで貰えると作った甲斐があるというものです。 皆さんが、もしもこのゲームを手にすることがあれば、あの頃の娘同様、ピュアな心で遊んでくださいね。 大人になった娘は最近、昔遊んだ『ナビ之介』のストーリーを突然何かが憑依したかのように、喋りだすことがあるんです。そのストーリーは20数年前に私が書いたお話なんですが、私は覚えてないので「なんだそれ、面白そうじゃないか！」と娘にその話の先を尋ねると、娘もそれ以上は覚えていないと、残念がっています…。 娘の「あの妖怪たちに会いたいわぁ〜」という言葉を聞くたびに、世に出せなかったことへの寂しさが胸をよぎっていました。 けれど、なんと！このたび、娘があの妖怪たちと再会を果たす日が、もう目前に迫っています！まさかこんな日がやってくるなんて…夢にも思いませんでした。 『ナビ之介』が帰ってくるその日を、皆さんも娘と一緒に心待ちにしていただけたら、とても嬉しいです。
