She’s right of course. There really is a campus rape industry whose objective is to convince women they’ve been raped. There’s an entire ecosystem of advocacy groups, lawyers, researchers, victim-services programs, and the Title IX bureaucracy that has a financial and professional interest in finding more women they can count as victims. I didn’t realize how massive it was until I spent the weekend writing an article about the concept creep of nonconsent.
A real rape victim is not going to initiate friendly (and possibly sexual) contact again with her alleged rapist, as Jane Doe did. The campus rape industry argues that doing so is a perfectly normal response to rape simply in order shore up their preposterous and nonfalsifiable fiction of rape culture.
