New Evidence Update: Direct Admission for Pediatric Hospitalizations A PCORI-funded study compared these two approaches to see how quickly children received an assessment, diagnostic testing and treatment. The study found that children admitted through DA waited longer for an initial assessment but received treatment sooner than children admitted through the ER.
