What bothers me most is that Pedro is already one of the most underrated players of his generation, and somehow even his retirement can’t just be about him. Barça honoring a former player who has officially retired from football is completely normal, yet people are using those posts to complain about what the club did or didn’t do for Messi’s farewell from the Argentina national team. You can have whatever opinion you want about how Barça handled that. I’m not here to change your mind. But why does that need to overshadow Pedro retiring from the game entirely? This should be a moment to appreciate his career and everything he accomplished. Some of you seriously need to get a grip and let Pedro have his moment.

I can’t believe some of you guys are actually mad that Barça posted about Pedro’s retirement, with all the “I thought this was going to be about Messi” comments. Guys, Messi retired from international football, not football altogether. Pedro literally announced his retirement from the sport TODAY, so obviously Barça are going to acknowledge a former player who had an important career at the club. Yesterday was Messi’s day, Barça posted about him, and somehow one post still wasn’t enough. You can continue honoring Messi and everything he means to Barça without expecting every post to be about him. Sometimes you have to be willing to turn the page a little, and I don’t mean that disrespectfully at all.
