Totally this
It’s been a while since I named a law in honor of myself. So here goes. The Jha Maxim “optimism in autonomous medical AI is inversely proportional to the time one actually spends in clinical medicine”.

Few snaps from tonight’s partial eclipse. We got about 92% here in Bristol. First time I’ve got the exposure right and caught some sunspots!

Doing my last on-call tonight. Off the radiology on-call rota after 26 years. I’ve jinxed it now, haven’t I? It’s going to be a shocker.

My wife bought this book recently and I was disappointed to find out it was nothing to do with long exposure radiographs

Have a look at this child’s forearm. Sore after they fell over. What do you think? (Answer in 24hrs)

Because the capitellum is not ossified, the radial head articulation is difficult to see but it should generally be held firmly adjacent to ulna by the annular ligament So if it deviates away from the ulna, that’s abnormal. Plus there shouldn’t an elbow effusion (arrow)

So the lesson is look hard at the radial head when there is a ulnar shaft fracture. It can be really hard to spot but difficult to defend if you miss it and the patient comes to harm as a result

If you are at #ECR2026, come to D3 lecture theatre at 11.30 for a dizzying rollercoaster of a session by yours truly I have only minor concern over the sung portion of this; my prose poem* But hopefully everyone will join in on the chorus (*= there is no singing or poetry)

Who is going to #ECR26 next week? There is a cracking session late on Weds morning next week. Some curiously attractive, middle-aged chap will be speaking about actionable reporting. Might be fun. Hope to see you there #Radiology
