I based this on what Rockstar has actually shown and the main fan discussion: GTA VI appears to move from repeated background archetypes toward a more varied, lived-in cast—but the final game still needs to prove it in gameplay.
GTA has changed how it portrays women more than people realize—and GTA VI could be the biggest leap yet. 👀
In the older games, women were often designed around fast, exaggerated archetypes: the loading-screen icon, the nightclub NPC, the side character, the punchline. It fit GTA’s satirical style, but the world rarely gave them the same range or presence as its male characters.
GTA V improved the visual fidelity, yet many female NPCs still felt like variations of a small set of models.
What stands out in GTA VI’s official trailers and screenshots is the range: different ages, body types, styles, hairstyles, and everyday roles across Leonida. They are at the beach, in stores, at parties, working, filming, arguing, and simply existing in the world.
And then there is Lucia.
She is not just part of the background—she is one of the two leads. Her story, her choices, and her relationship with Jason are at the center of GTA VI.
That is why GTA VI has the potential to be Rockstar’s best version of this world: not because every character looks prettier, but because the city already appears to have more personality, variety, and life.
Trailers are not the final game, of course. But if Rockstar delivers this same depth in gameplay, Leonida may feel more alive than any GTA city before it.
What detail have you noticed most in GTA VI’s NPCs?
