For over a year now I have been explaining to many that Australian businesses need a simple, native way to pay their people in bitcoin if we are to make bitcoin a normal part of working life in this country. After many months of planning and building, today we launched Bits, our Get Paid In Bitcoin integration for Xero. This is in addition to our existing salary-conversion service for employees that is already live in many businesses around the country and means that any Australian business, from a sole trader to a federal government, can offer bitcoin pay without changing how they already run payroll. Bits means an employer can turn on bitcoin pay for staff from the GPIB platform, with the payroll and reporting handled for them within Xero. The integration opens up bitcoin as an option for over 3.5 m Australians that currently receive their wages via the Xero platform. This represents the biggest step forward in how Australians Get Paid In Bitcoin since we started. In the coming days I will share why this matters so much for employees, business owners and the wider bitcoin community. Thanks to our team, our partners and everyone who has backed us.
