The human cost of Pakistani children dying is treated as background noise or a security footnote. The human cost of Pakistan hitting the people who plan and stage those killings becomes the headline. That is not journalism. That is moral inversion. Pakistani mothers bury their children after TTP attacks and the world moves on. Pakistani forces eliminate the planners and facilitators of those same attacks and the same voices demand restraint, dialogue, and accountability , almost never directed at the side that hosts the terrorists. The blood of a Pakistani child does not generate the same international moral theatre as a disputed claim from across the border. This is the reality: terrorists who murder Pakistani children do not get the benefit of elaborate justifications or endless “context.” Their apologists and the media that soft-pedal their sanctuaries do. Every time a Pakistani family is destroyed in Darazinda or Bannu or Waziristan, the silence from those quarters is itself a statement. It says Pakistani lives are secondary. It says the right of a state to dismantle the infrastructure that keeps killing its people is negotiable. It says tears are reserved for the moments when the terrorists’ rear bases come under pressure. Enough of the crocodile tears for the side that shelters the bombers. The blood of Pakistani children is not cheaper. The double standard is not subtle. And the silence when our children die is not neutrality , it is complicity in the narrative that keeps the killing possible.
