Just hours after I've talked about how innocent Kenyan women are ending up in prison, another woman, Jane Waithera, has been arrested at JKIA. The offence is smuggling cocaine worth approximately KSh 13 million,and I can tell you, the girl might be innocent.
There are these drug dealers who are using our women to smuggle drugs in and out of the country without the women knowing. Mtu akipatikana kwa ngori, she is ghosted.
This is how they do it,a foreigner approaches a Kenyan woman. The guy does everything to make sure the girl becomes his girlfriend,promises many things, including flying them out. The day the woman is supposed to fly outside the country, the guy makes sure they don't travel the same day. The guy promises the woman that he would get her a ticket,and he fulfills the promise.
On the day the woman is supposed to travel, she is told to pick up a parcel, something like shoes or even a laptop, not knowing that drugs have been packed inside. These people always pray that you get to the other side without getting caught. Most women end up getting caught. How will you explain that the drugs are not yours?
At times, women wanazubaishwa travelling that day, wanaacha nyumba bag yao, only for it to be loaded with drugs.
Like, this woman is going to spend more than 20 years in prison for that, something that she may not even know about.
