Fresh off signing a $43.2 million contract, Tristan Luneau logged 26:58 TOI against the defending Western Conference champs
At 5v5, he led the team in TOI (23:40), was on the ice for 3 goals for and none against, and posted a 58.3 xGF% (1.28-0.92)

It'll be curious to see Quenneville's personnel deployment in the dying minutes of this game, up two goals

This is a very understated, difficult, and important save. Dostal is able to swallow this tipped point shot following a sequence where his team had been hemmed in for an extended period of time

Vegas capitalizes on the power play following the failed challenge. Marner finds a creeping Hertl on the back post, who outmuscles Killorn and beats Dostal

This time, a failed exit bites the Ducks, as the ensuing cycle finds its way to Theodore's stick at the faceoff dot. He beats Dostal clean. Ducks challenge, but the call stands

The Ducks add three more to their lead in the second period
Still some breakout issues, as expected, but with Dostal's performance and a newfound d-zone coverage cohesion, getting hemmed hasn't been disastrous, and they forced several key turnovers at the blueline

This has been, by far, the best period of the season for the Ducks

This goal is sparked by the remarkable hand/eye knockdown from Gauthier in neutral.
Gauthier passes off the pad, Hart sprawls to make a desperate save, and Carlsson cleans up the third opportunity

Tim Washe does what Tim Washe does and wins a faceoff. Puck gets to LaCombe at the point, and his shot pinballs before finding the back of the net. Jeff Malott gets his first as a Duck

Shoutout to Mikael Granlund for his work on the forecheck to keep this puck moving. A textbook cycle, low-to-high movement, and Warren gets his first NHL point

Ducks take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission
Breakouts, outlets, and exits have been a significant issue, but there were several encouraging cycle sequences on both ends of the ice
Dostal with a handful of spectacular saves

Mintyukov gets caught a bit high, which leads to a grade A for Vegas, but Dostal makes a huge save, Carlsson pounces on the rebound and hits Sennecke, who flew the zone, with a dart into neutral ice to spring the breakaway
