One thing I don’t think gets discussed enough in the analytics community is just how frequently RBs touch the ball compared to WRs.
Those touches may not carry the same value on a per-play basis (pass >>> run), but volume still matters when evaluating a player’s impact.

On the other side of the argument, rushing success is also heavily dependent on OL play (weak link system).
Combine that with shorter careers at the position, and it’s easy to understand the divide between the RBSDM and RBSM crowds.
The touches matter. The question is how much value the individual RB is actually creating with them and how difficult that production is to replace.

If he got all of these 18-19 expected points back, and no one else got theirs, he'd still be the 4th-worst QB in the metric.
Almost 70% of his air yards have been uncatchable. I don't blame the receivers, I'd be surprised too if a ball actually got close to enough to catch it.
