I would like to point out for everyone to properly understand, that 99% of the girls/young women that were sent to an interview with Sullivan, as aspiring models, had NO IDEA who he was, we did not know his reputation, his criminal record, his seediness, his business, NOTHING
We just knew he owned a newspaper with topless models in it
This might be hard to believe in the internet day & age, but as teens in the nineties we didn’t have the information network at our finger tips, we didn’t follow the news or read newspapers
We were too busy having fun, we were ‘out out’ personally I was raving for England at the time
I watched
@SoniaPoulton yesterday, and i understand how being a few yrs older and already in journalism at the time, for you this guy was notorious already
But not for me, despite being 24 at the time and had left home for 8yrs already, I swear I had no clue who he was or anything about him, so how were all the girls, most much younger than I was supposed to know?
We didn’t know what to expect, weren’t on our guard, had no idea of the danger we were in
We’d all grown up with pg3 and topless models on every kitchen table in The Sun, and although some want to shame us for going topless, we just thought it was all pretty normal back then, we all went topless on the beach and were led to believe we could be proud of our bodies
Of course we were being manipulated, but how were we to know that?
We didn’t know what to expect, and just because we were prepared to do topless photos that doesn’t excuse anything, does it?
