Plenty of neurotypical people have done the same thing and gotten the same result. Mental health struggles, whether from autism or anything else, don't change the fact that a knife plus closing distance is a deadly threat. They had to react to the immediate danger.

Not even close. America was a capitalist republic the whole time, with private property, markets, and elections. Communism as we know it didn't exist yet the Communist Manifesto only came out in 1848 and organized Marxist parties in the U.S. didn't show up until decades later

@JosephDAmelioJr There were a few tiny utopian socialist communes in the 1840s, like Brook Farm or some Fourierist spots, but they were small experiments that mostly failed fast. They had zero control over the government. The real Communist Party USA wasn't founded until 1919.
