For generations, Hamas-appointed teachers turned Gazan kids against their parents, weaponizing classrooms to hijack Islam, breed division, and label anyone who disagreed as an infidel. As Gazan researcher Hasan Jamal al-Dawoudi warns, this created a “culture of death… based on hatred and breaking bonds.” Now is the time to roll it back, he urges, by “planting seeds of love in every Palestinian child.” Ridding Gaza of its martyrdom culture and replacing it with those seeds requires taking the schools back — because if you capture the schools, you kidnap the minds. Demilitarization is only step one. Step two must be ripping out this ideological root. WATCH:

Many Gazan Palestinians I know (and others I hear in interviews) want reconstruction and peace, but fear weapons proliferation and a deepening so-called “culture of death.” In this video, they call for rebuilding a culture of hope, civility, and coexistence.

I agree with this. Gazan Palestinian dissident Amin Abed calls for the disarmament of Hamas but warns: "The problem will not end simply by disarming Hamas." He says: "we also need to build a national and humanistic mindset that can confront the extremist ideology".

One of Gaza’s bravest voices - the man who co-organized the 2019 “We Want to Live” street protests against Hamas’s death culture - just delivered an unflinching demand: Hamas’s ideology must be eradicated the same way Nazism was. Wipe it out completely. His vision is clear: Demilitarize Gaza first. Then deradicalize.
