Tonight the government will write into law its plan to increase the price of petrol and diesel. Once again, Sinn Féin was the only party to put forward an alternative that would have stopped these increases and protected people from being hit at the pumps. I’m in Washington this week briefing the Congressional Friends of Ireland, members of Congress, trade union leaders and the Ad Hoc Committee on the Good Friday Agreement on the importance of this legislation, the opportunity it presents for Ireland’s future, and the vital role of the Irish diaspora in helping to achieve Irish unity.
