‘Maybe the issue is that people with autism and ADHD should not be allowed in academia’
If this is the cope you’ve chosen, I’ve got bad news for you about academia.
In better news, you’re ready to be the villain in an Oscar-winning movie.
Thousands and thousands of people here at the Jason Arday vigil in Trafalgar Square. This was taken just before the 6pm start. It’s now too packed to take photos.
After the #Arsenal victory parade, the hundreds of thousands of fans have trashed our neighborhood. Streets full of rubbish, urine and vomit.
Genuinely glad everyone had a good time- and now Arsenal FC needs to organise and fund the cleanup. It’s the right thing to do. RT pls.
A transgender teenager won a German chess tournament, and now some numpties are calling for a ban on trans girls in women's chess.
What does this have to do with fairness?
Can anyone give me an answer that doesn't assume women and girls are less intelligent than men?
Excuse me. I know for a fact that I can handle at least four high-agency men going at it at once. Especially with a break for snacks and water.
I still object to liberal democracy being held hostage by a couple of screaming overpowered emotionally incontinent babymen.
Cheese and maple melon pan at Coaldrops Yard pop-up market. Very few things delight me more than a cake I haven’t tried before.
The horrors persist, but so do the little treats.
ALT A close-up of my hand holding a cheese and maple melon pan, which is a round sweet-savoy Japanese style bun, with a bite out of it.
‘What are you so afraid of’- thousands of trans people, feminists, union members and allies in Parliament Square today. Emmeline Pankhurst representing:
"The right sort of ethically suspect protagonist still does far more political damage by force of personality than they do by committing actual crime." (piece follows)
Challenge: in 200 words or fewer, write a story about this sink.
ALT A sign sellotaped to a bathroom wall in Soho, London. The sign reads ‘please could you close the taps fully before leaving as otherwise the sink will overflow with time. Thank you!’
I found this children’s picture book from 1967 in the Little Free Library. It’s a collection of ‘Stories of Courage’ clearly meant to inspire young readers. Heroic tales of Nelson, Socrates, Joan of Arc etc. Role Models.
Anyway, the cover features a child fully shooting a Nazi.
I don’t know what you’re watching tonight, but I’m going to skip the toxic political clownshow and mainline #MyLadyJane, which is brilliant and bananas and silly and sexy and made of absolute joy. It’s on @primevideo. Tell me when you get to the EP2 reveal.
You should watch this show. You will love this show. For secret reasons, I have been lucky enough to see some preview episodes of this show. #myladyjane drops in June, and it is epic and hilarious and made of joy. Here’s the trailer:

Obsessed with the idea of Mr Darcy as an autistic character. It takes scenes like this to a new level of awkward brilliance. Watch it and see what I mean!

'You have talked so often of going to the dogs — and well, here are the dogs, and you have reached them, and you can stand it.'- Down and Out in Paris and London.
Mass die-in outside the Department for Education at the vigil for murdered trans teenager #BriannaGhey. 'They have created a mythology around us that makes us a target. How many of our corpses will it take for you to care?'
ALT Thousands of young LGBTQ people lying together in the street outside the Department for Education in London, U.K.
At the vigil for #BriannaGhey in London- hundreds of people have arrived and it's barely started. Way too many for the pavement, so the street around the DoE is now blocked.
This gathering is entirely peaceful and almost silent- there's an atmosphere of mourning and shock.
Desperate British Government, amid ongoing public support for the strikes:
'a generation of passengers will just write off the railways'.
The British Public:
> but this was the thread that slammed me in the solar plexus: the focus onautism and other forms of neurodiversity as reasons why a young person might question their gender identity. The implication seems to be that autistic people cannot be trusted to make such decisions.>
This is Sidney Snippet, the 2nd class gnome wizard I'm playing in DnD. He is 3'2 and anxious, has the strategic capacity of a chocolate kettle, solves problems by ignoring them, and is almost always very stoned for plot reasons.
Sidney has now outlasted two Prime Ministers.
They keep doing this. No matter how many times people tell them they look like smug gurning wankers, they keep on dressing as builders and I'm not sure anyone, even them, really knows why.
