This is obviously mad climatically, as we likely move into our hottest summer on record, but what do you make of it politically? smh.com.au/national/australi…

Reminder to all that Fairfax accepted $8,163,870 from Labor to subsidise the salaries of journalists to the tune of $13,000 per annum per “core news” journo SMH is just a lefty propaganda rag

Nicolette Boele won Bradfield on Sydney's North Shore because she ran on a climate change ticket as a Teal. It's the first time this electorate has not been a Liberal Party seat with margins around 20%. The Liberal Party have learnt nothing.

Just like their refusal to accept Superannuation the Liberals have never accepted climate change science and renewable energy measures Even as 80% of the grid was generated by solar and wind as recent as last weekend we have this unfathomable retrograde tosh served up by the Lib

I think politicians should have suits blazoned with their donors names and logos, like professional sports players to help throw light onto these decisions. As an aside, over the last weekend the Australian National Energy Market broke a new record. For a 30 min period in the middle of the day, 80% of all power was supplied by renewables. Just rooftop solar supplied more than double that of all coal plants combined. There’s no stopping it now without active and sustained political interference.

60% of Australia is conservative or right at present and only increasing. Still think it’s 2016? Weirdo

Best policies they’ve copied from One Nation yet👏👏👏👏👏. And now ON have begun talkies with the Coalition over forming a broadened coalition against Labor at the next election……if that happens, Labor is toast thank god. Read Kochie’s letter to RBA Michelle Bullock

It is irrelevant from a global and climate perspective. Symbolism isn’t worth our productivity and wealth. Madness is digging up fossil fuels, putting them on diesel ships whilst we hamstring our own industries with expensive energy. Removing the ban on nuclear is worth doing, and given how cheap renewables are in comparison it actually shouldn’t matter or does it?

I can't believe this. Broadly all the independent Teal Fed Mbrs would be liberals their culture was more accepting of women and they embraced climate change. This is doubling down on what they've previously got wrong.

That's exactly why you replace coal and gas with nuclear. Follow the French model for a low emission grid.

Science & economics are not part of the considerations @ play, simply a move further right, which is what happens when the president of your party is Tony Abbott, your leader is Angus Taylor & any move to the centre is instantly eviscerated by a small loud echo chamber on News24

In reality LNP are little hope of forming govt - and that slows donations coming in. This drill-baby-drill madness at least lets them tap into fossil fuel funding from businesses. Surely nobody really believes this shit....

What's mad is believing that the Earth's climate was stable, barely changing, until just the last 100 years and it's because of humans. We aren't that influential. #auspol

I live in Victoria. We sit on mountains of gas and coal. Millions perhaps billions of tonnes But we’re not allowed to touch it Meanwhile our energy bills are sky high It beggars belief Meanwhile China 🇨🇳 are commissioning coal power stations every week!!!

Australian emissions have no scientific impact on global climate. Temperature records exist from the mid-1800s at some locations. For example, observatories in cities such as Sydney & Melbourne began taking meteorological observations in the 1850s. Rainfall records extend even further in some places & Bureau of Meteorology provides rainfall maps & analyses from 1900 onward. For national climate trends BOM & CSIRO generally use 1910 as the start of Australia's national temperature record. This is because a sufficiently extensive and standardized observation network was established by then allowing reliable nationwide comparisons. Not even a blink of an eye timespan re climate.

The LNP have set Australia back more than 20 years with their ridiculous avoidance of a realistic climate policy. They are fools & tools of #fossilfues. Who is going to invest in climate measures with such a poor policy effort!

Its political madness too. The Australian electorate has overwhelmingly voted for action on climate change. Albo and Labor will welcome this gift with open arms in the build up to the next election.

With 80% of demand fuelled by rooftop and battery, does any homeowner/voter really want that reversed for Coalition coal with never-never nuclear in twenty years' time? We already went through this with Dutton. I guess the numpties get some credit for recycling ideas.

And what do people think that we are going to achieve by destroying the Australian economy? Even if we went back to the stone age, it will not make a lick of difference. India and China are building power generation on a scale that we just can not comprehend. Tell them that they are not allowed to flick a switch and turn the lights on

The world has moved on from net zero yet Australia has its head in the sand. The world is using more coal & gas than at anytime in human history. Cheap, baseload electricity is the only thing that will feed data centres.

Political dead end, but they've never been afraid of doubling down on bad policy. With the mounting evidence of serious consequences of climate change, the ranks of the deniers will be thinning rapidly. Fossil fuels are the problem, not the solution.

Personally Peter I have read a lot about the drillings in the Arctic & Antarctic and the ice drilling showed that we have gone through numerous heat & ice ages. This showed we are over passed the middle of the latest one
