“Nigel Farage, what persuaded you that Adam Richardson, the former Secretary to UKIP, was the right person to conduct an internal inquiry into Reform donations?”

To sum up, the barrister that conducted the inquiry into Reform for illegally arranging impermissible donations, and clearing them, Adam Richardson, was Secretary to UKIP and has acted for Trump, Farage, Jenkyns, Cambridge Analytica etc. Farage thinks we're all stupid.

PRINT OF THE DAY Today’s print of Southgate Station is one of my favourite photographs. It perfectly captures why we call it the Tube, just look at how tight that space is! If you like this photo, or would like to see more from the collection, check out the attached post.

It's only bloody done it! 89001 at Crewe waiting to burrow its way back home to the LSL depot having produced a superb display between Crewe & Glasgow Central. A fantastic achievement by LSL & the ACLG to get this unique loco back hauling passengers on the mainline 👏 👏

This is what Brexit has done to Britain. Luise Valentiner arrived in Scotland through Erasmus and made it her home for 32 years. She built a business, paid taxes and became part of her community. Before Brexit, 85% of her sales went to EU customers. Then came customs charges, returned parcels and regulations too costly for a sole trader to navigate. After three decades here, she was also forced repeatedly to prove her right to return to her own home. Add growing xenophobia and the rise of Reform, and she and her husband have finally had enough. They are leaving Scotland for Denmark. Luise has not fallen out of love with Scotland. Brexit has made living and belonging here economically, practically and emotionally exhausting. Britain is losing businesses, skills, friendships and people who enriched this country for decades. Brexit is national self-harm.

Shorn of her nameplates but still looking magnificent, Darlington's A1 60124 Kenilworth is the standby loco on the turntable line at 51A awaiting a main line diesel failure on 1st August 1965. Chances are she won't have long to wait. Unknown photographer.

Also 40 years ago this week - an unidentified HST set approaching Duffield on 4th October 1986, with what looks like a Sheffield - St Pancras express. One of those everyday sights which I wouldn't normally have bothered photting but I'm glad I did now.

Having read this, I despair. With super 'tech bro' at the helm, taking advice of AI gadget obsessives who don't understand broadcasting either, I fear that the more likely parallel with Elvis is a tragic and untimely demise when there should be many more years left.
Matt Brittin told employees today that he wants the BBC to “be more Elvis,” by which he meant: “A little less conversation, a little more action.” Welcome to the Silicon Valley-isation of the BBC. deadline.com/2026/10/bbc-sil…

I could have booked leave and done 89001 to Glasgow, but then I’d have missed out on my favourite loco for my shift wouldn’t I? Stafford station was chock full of people all waiting to see me driving 88007….or so I thought….turns out there was a steam loco following me…..! 🤷‍♂️
