Beautiful sunset this evening in @ucddublin. It looks good from the top of the Health Sciences Centre, and also reflected in the library windows.

Lego microscopes are a great way to experiment with optics and learn how microscopes work with hands on experience. They're also good fun! All the 3D printed parts needed are now available to download here: printables.com/model/1057324…

Almost to the end of our third day at #MFR2024. 3 amazing days of DIY microscopy, 3D anatomy, and other ways to see the unseen. And a nice prize to take home as a souvenir of our time in Rome!

Here's a quick photogrammetry render of our JellyLab x AnatomyHacks stand at Maker Faire Rome. Tricky to grab scans between visitors, but this is promising - I'll have to try again tomorrow. @Anatomy_Hacks #MFR2024

First day of #mfr2024 done! Lego microscopes, polarised light tricks and invisible cola from JallyLab, and some 3D printed anatomy from @Anatomy_Hacks! And @Niamh_deBurca looking like she doesn't want to be in a photo... A night of rest and more to come tomorrow!

I have to say, I am genuinely proud of this. I'm proud of the work we have done, and will continue to do, to remove barriers to scientific exploration and seeding new communities of discovery. It's my name on the award, but I just represent a small part of a bigger team effort.
Huge congratulations to Dr Mark Pickering! @PickeringLab @ucddublin who received the RMS Chris Hawes Award for Outreach and Education at our AGM today at the @RoySocChem 👏👏👏

Thanks to the hard work of @Niamh_deBurca, we're half way to our goal of providing open, accessible automated microscopes to community groups across Ireland! Check out our first set of community partners here: experiment.com/u/2deKQ @MicroscopyIrl

Replying to @TFlanaganLab
Hear hear! It's been a lot of work, but a lot of fun too, and I think we've both learned so much through the process.

I think @TFlanaganLab is in his element here at @DublinMaker this weekend. You know I'm starting to think he's maybe picked up some skills over his years of teaching @ucddublin students...

Today's JellyLab prep for @DublinMaker has the laser cutter running in what appears to be a post-apocalyptic landscape...
