If you live in this part of the world, you are literally getting scammed by your government. 🇳🇴🇸🇪🇫🇮🇩🇰
People living in Norway, Sweden, Finland & Denmark pay the highest tax rates on the planet:
> Income tax up to 60%
> Capital gains tax up to 42%
> Corporate tax 20+%
> VAT 25%
> Norway even has a wealth tax
Add social insurance, municipal tax, further contributions & there's almost nothing left.
However, Nordic people are so brainwashed that they are totally fine working half the year just for the government, for free.
They rationalize it with: “We have free healthcare & education"
But is it really free, if you pay that high amount of taxes?
Let’s be real. What do you even get for all the taxes you pay?
First, definitely not enough sunshine.
Second is the decreasing safety.
Sweden reports the highest rate of s*xual offences in the EU. I wouldn't even feel comfortable letting my kids walk home at night there.
Bombing attacks are skyrocketing with 621 recorded explosions in 2025 & Sweden ranks highest in the EU for gun violence as well.
But now it’s getting interesting.
For decades the Nordics had the highest asylum intakes in Europe. Combine that with transparency registers where your income, wealth & address is public across the Nordics, you are literally at constant risk of a targeted attack.
"Violence as a Service" has officially already arrived in the Nordics. Since 2023 it gained mainstream recognition in the Nordic region due to public incidents.
One of our Swedish clients worth 50M€+ (publicly known) recently became a father and that is the exact reason he left Sweden.
He didn't leave over the tax rates. He left because everyone could find out where he, his wife & newborn live. With a simple online search.
There are so many more wealthy families that are quietly relocating to countries with lower taxes & higher life quality. Cyprus, UAE, Poland & Switzerland are just a few to mention.
But again. It's not just about taxes. It's about where your family (& wealth) is protected.
Here in Cyprus, the total tax rate is approx. 15% and in 7 years of living here I never felt unsafe once.
In addition, I see how Cyprus is reinvesting the tax revenue back into the country. They constantly improve the infrastructure, build new public parks, extend seafront walkways & we have top tier health care & schools as well.
But coming back to the Nordics. For tax rates of over 50% my expectations are quite high.
And not worrying about my kids going out at night is one of them.
