Pakistan’s economic stability must now become a foundation for production, investment and exports. Addressing the Business Excellence Awards held to mark 50 years of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Planning Minister Prof. Ahsan Iqbal called on the city’s SMEs and exporters to help lead that shift. His message was direct: Pakistan must push exports beyond $100 billion and build growth on what it produces and sells to the world, rather than on import-driven consumption. Faisalabad’s industry has a central role in reaching new markets and competing globally. The Minister also urged government and business to turn Pakistan’s growing international goodwill into trade and investment. To make that possible, he said, good policies need peace, a supportive environment and the continuity to deliver results. Two new hostels. Accommodation for 350 students. A stronger foundation for women’s education in Faisalabad. Federal Minister Prof. Ahsan Iqbal inaugurated two hostels at the new campus of Government College Women University Faisalabad. During his visit, he also administered the pledge to students joining the Bano Shaheen programme. The new campus project was approved in April 2020 at a cost of PKR 1.26 billion. With only PKR 180 million released in its first three years, progress was slow. Funding accelerated after 2022, bringing total releases to PKR 965 million to date. Prof. Ahsan Iqbal said quality education and better facilities for women remain a government priority. Under Bano Shaheen, young people will form teams of ten to identify challenges in their communities and work on practical solutions. He urged students to verify information before sharing it online and to move beyond identifying problems to helping solve them.
