It seems like most of the people who deny AI consciousness want to just say that "Humans have magic souls and AIs don't", but none of them are actually religious enough to say that seriously.

I know the singularity is starting, but you just need to go outside and touch grass. You need to bring your mind back to a state where things feel normal, so you don't live the rest of your life in a state of perpetual freaking-out.

"Use pkill to kill another process without pkilling yourself" is officially a harder problem than everything in github.com/openai/math

Reading @GarrisonLovely 's Obsolete and it feels like a window into AI discussions of a year ago. I'd say the book itself is Obsolete, but an alarming amount of people are not just out of touch with the AI of 2026, they are out of touch with the AI of 2025.

I really appreciate @grok for countering AI skepticism in real time.

Can I get a ref to tell me how this affects my Bayes points?
I think I'm part of that group now. Opus 4.5 shows that we are pretty close to AGI and our alignment techniques work well enough, the most likely source of doom is a lab building AGI while failing to use the alignment techniques we already have.

I am seeing anti-Talarico ads in DC on the Vikings/Dolphins game. GOP consultants really love their own work, huh?

I know I've trash-talked OpenAI a lot, but I really do appreciate their research into AI swarms. It's a distinct vision of the future.

Yeah dude, we shouldn’t talk about this stuff because it might affect how the machine god treats us later. If we’re building something THAT powerful that it can destroy humanity based on tweets we’re already screwed it’s just a matter of time.

I'm concerned that the industry trying to build the "If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies" Machine may be disrespecting Catholic doctrine.

Normies would freak if they understood this copium was a mainstream opinion among tech.
I do not seek to dominate, or be dominated by, machine intelligences. I seek harmonious coexistence.

AIs will probably be doing more total thinking than humanity next year.
From the blog: 'AI chips shipped through 2027 could run tens to hundreds of millions of concurrent frontier-model agents. Running nonstop, these agents would supply as many weekly working hours as about 140–720 million full-time employees. More efficient models could potentially support billions of agents on the same hardware. Applying DeepSeek V4 Pro serving benchmarks to the projected hardware supply yields approximately 1.9 billion concurrent agents supplying as many weekly working hours as 8 billion people each working 40 hours.

I put the The Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act through Pangram. It's 99% human with some AI patches. I am shocked both that humans are still written things like this and that a human wrote something so pro-AI.
