“From CBU ➡️ Tulsa ➡️ Cincinnati, I’ve been with Tylen every step of the way, from film study to on-court development. This time, we focused on pace, ball screen scoring, and playmaking. What I love most about Tylen is how quickly he applies what we work on to live game action. His ability to understand, execute, and translate the work is why his growth and development happen so quickly. Proud of his journey, attention to detail, and commitment to getting better. Cincy, you’ve got a GREAT one!” 📹@Pnewt0n #Bearcats

Tylen Riley flew 1,600 miles just to get in the gym with me. Never take moments like these for granted! From CBU ➡️ Tulsa ➡️ Cincinnati, I’ve been with Tylen every step of the way. From film study to on-court work, one thing has never changed: his commitment to getting better. Proud of his journey and the work he continues to put in. Cincy, you’ve got a GREAT one!

You're going to lose 80% of the time. Most people build their whole identity inside the other 20%. It's your ego that thinks you're supposed to win. Three ways to shift to mastery: Move the mirror off the scoreboard. Track hands ready, butt down, talking on defense, reps after you wanted to quit. Something you can go 3-for-3 on in a bad week. Protect the unglamorous hours. The Thursday in February when nobody's watching. Nobody claps for those reps. That's why they count. Refuse the label. A win is a data point, not a verdict. If mastery is the point, the championship is just one particularly good Tuesday.

Eileen Gu: "I train like I've never won, and I compete like I've never lost." Coaching basketball is that line, every day. Practice mode: the standard doesn't move. Half a beat slow on the closeout. Elbow flared. Feet not set. Game mode: none of that exists. You're the best player on the floor. You don't look at who's guarding you. Most players run the wrong mode at the wrong time. Bum around at practice, then play scared Friday. Or walk in like they've made it, then fold when somebody hits them. Which mode are you in right now?

This foundational work from NBA Trainer, Coach P (@Pnewt0n) is really good Reps, reps, reps The goal is not to go full speed on offense, all the time - The goal is the play with pace and be in control of the defense This is an awesome foundational drill

This is a great drill from NBA Trainer, Coach P (@Pnewt0n), which emphasizes playing with pace off a ball screen The ball handler keeps the primary defender in jail (on his back) and he is able to use his eyes to read the second layer of the defense 🔥

Energy transfer is one of the biggest keys to becoming a consistent shooter 🎯🔥 Here are 3 foundation drills to help players FEEL it: Foundation Holds → Double Dips → Spin-Out 3s Start by owning your base from deeper range. Then feel the down-to-up energy transfer with double dips. Finish with a hard spin-out + strong footwork into your full shot. The goal isn’t just more reps it’s learning how to transfer energy from the floor into the ball efficiently. Build the foundation. Feel the energy. Let it fly. The best of the best work on the little details EVERY session 🏀🔥 Active off-arm. Ball handling. Footwork. Finishing. Passing. Here’s a drill using an arm hold to teach players how to keep the off-arm active while connecting their handle + footwork into a finish or pass. The off-arm isn’t an afterthought it’s part of the handle. 🎯 Coaches & trainers: Comment “TRAIN” if you’re interested in joining my exclusive coaching community for drills, film breakdowns, player development concepts + networking to help elevate your coaching

Azzi Fudd was putting together a special rookie season and the work behind it was just as impressive 🔥 Here’s a drill we used this offseason to sharpen her handle, footwork + pace. Float → Tween → Tween. The goal: control your rhythm, sync the ball with your feet + explode out of the move. Elite players master the details. 🏀🎯 Coaches & trainers: Comment “TRAIN” if you’re interested in joining my exclusive coaching community for drills, film breakdowns, player development concepts + networking to help elevate your coaching

Playing with PACE is critical to playing the game at a high level 🏀🔥 Most offenses today involve some form of ball screen or DHO action — so guards have to learn how to manipulate the defense AND make the right pass. Working on: Right + left-hand hook passes. Chest passes. Eyes as deception. Don’t just run the action. Change pace. Manipulate the defender. Make the play. 🎯 Coaches & trainers: Comment “TRAIN” if you’re interested in joining my exclusive coaching community for drills, film breakdowns, player development concepts + networking to help elevate your coaching

Want to build better ball handlers who actually play with pace? 🏀🔥 Start with the foundation. Dribble hold (hostage dribble) + setup moves at full speed. The goal isn’t just a faster handle it’s learning how to change speeds, control your body + keep the defender guessing. Setup. Hold. Change pace. Explode. 🎯 Coaches & trainers: Comment “TRAIN” if you’re interested in joining my exclusive coaching community for drills, film breakdowns, player development concepts + networking to help elevate your coaching

Neutralize athleticism by learning how to play off two feet 🏀🔥 Here’s a great drill for developing multiple two-foot options: Stride stop. 1-2 hop. Jump stop. Pro hop. Each gives you a different way to stay balanced, absorb contact + make a read once you get into the paint. Don’t have just ONE option. Master them all. 🎯 Coaches & trainers: Comment “TRAIN” if you’re interested in joining my exclusive coaching community for drills, film breakdowns, player development concepts + networking to help elevate your coaching
