Doesn’t really matter when every vehicle 2027 and beyond HAS to have detection software that shuts the car off if it deems you’re unable to drive. I don’t think I want to buy anything newer than a 2010 to be honest, especially if I need a work or play truck

Kind of weird as you can’t sell cars into other nations with those standards

Doesn't really matter when diesel is $6 per gallon now, does it?

This might actually make people switch to electric faster... Its much easier to sell a Model Y when the competition is exclusively making Brocos with 14 miles per gallon.

All this bullshit is doing is making cars less reliable. Manufacturers are just taking I-4s, slapping on turbos and shutting off cylinders electronically, making them prone to all kinds of problems and even less reliable. Cars were fuel efficient enough 10 years ago

Yeah - burn more fuel so you can spend even more on gas. Jeesh, my head. Just buy a Tesla people.

yeah saw that dropping from 50.4 mpg under Biden to 34.5 mpg by 2031. Says it'll cut like $900 off new cars but burn way more gas long term

If they lose the auto shut off for idling at traffic lights, that will make a lot of people happy!

car manufacturers will not change anything, since there might be a Democrat president soon who just brings them back, and overall regulations in other markets like the EU tie their hands anyways.

That's great, more reason not to buy shitty American cars. The rest of the world will stick to the current regulations.

Its silly because of how much the fuel costs now. You are literally need more economic cars to survive, otherwise it will not end well.

Of course with gas prices so high. We need more cars that aren't gas efficient either right?

So that means people will have to spend wayyy more on gas

Looks like the free market is finally allowed to make some fuel economy decisions instead of the government imposing arbitrary regulations

good because I want a gas guzzling Toyota Sequoia… I don’t want an EV or hybrid.

Adviser: Sir, we're heading for a fuel crisis. The price at the pump has soared! What are we going to do? Trump: I know, let's build cars that consume even more fuel! That'll be popular!

Trump moves to slash Biden-era fuel economy rules. the rewrite hits the tape before anyone prices which model years actually change.

If it is by executive order though it doesn’t matter. The next democrat president will get rid of all his executive orders days one.

Oh yay. Bad fuel economy cars and $5 a gallon gas.

How about he slashes that unconstitutional kill switch they mandated car markers put in their new models?!

More promises kept for Big Oil that contributed to his campaign.

No one that knows anything about cars and isn't a car dealer wants a new car.

I want good fuel economy in my vehicles, but forcing them with other emissions only makes them suck. It needs to be one or the other. Or neither

This is massive. All of these garbage "energy" standards need to go bye bye.
