Another Day, Another BJP Expose : On 10th of September, Senior Congress Ex-MP @shaktisinhgohil has alleged that more than ₹10,000 crore in tax evasion was facilitated through 3,260 Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs), and has demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the matter. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, senior Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil alleged that these political parties were being used as vehicles for tax evasion and the conversion of unaccounted money into legitimate funds. Congress general secretary @Jairam_Ramesh also questioned who was behind what he described as thousands of “sham political parties”. According to Mr. Gohil, individuals and companies allegedly donated money to such parties to claim tax benefits available for political contributions under the Income Tax Act. He alleged that a portion of the money was subsequently returned to donors, after commissions ranging from 2% to 15% were deducted. Congress further alleged that the issue had come to light following an Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report in 2025, but claimed that adequate action had not been taken. The party has sought investigation into the political parties, donors and others allegedly involved, along with criminal proceedings wherever wrongdoing is established. Mr. Ramesh also alleged that some of the parties enjoyed BJP patronage and questioned why investigations had not been pursued. Congress has demanded that the government constitute a JPC to examine the alleged transactions, identify beneficiaries and determine whether tax and electoral laws were violated. Day 2 : Investigating GOA Elections Credits : The Indian Express Report : @RitikaChopra__ Massive Manipulation in the of "Centralization of Electoral Data Base" shows ample Irregularities. An Indian Express investigation has exposed a deep rift inside India’s Election Commission. Two of its three members ; Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi – formally objected at least 14 times over ten months to decisions taken under Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They warned that the Commission’s new central software system, ECINet, was quietly shifting control of the country’s voter lists away from local officers and into the hands of a small IT team in New Delhi headed by Director General Seema Khanna. This centralisation, they said, was illegal and undermined the very system the Election Commission has always pointed to as its strongest defence against any charge of mass manipulation. ECINet was launched in January 2026 with the promise that it would make elections more transparent and trustworthy. In reality, the software began restricting the powers that the law gives to Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) on the ground the officials who are legally responsible for adding, deleting or restoring names on the voter list. Sandhu and Joshi repeatedly flagged this “gradual centralisation.” They pointed out that the IT chief had no legal authority to limit the access of these statutory officers. Their calls for an independent technical audit of the system went unanswered. At one point the two Commissioners even wrote to the Cabinet Secretary to protest an internal order that further reduced oversight of the IT division. The consequences of this central control became painfully clear in Goa. Following a Supreme Court order, local election officers carefully examined 649 voters who had been flagged for “logical discrepancies.” In 97 cases they found the people eligible and decided their names must be restored to the final voter list. But ECINet had no button that allowed the local officers to reverse the earlier deletion. Only Delhi could enable that option. Goa’s Chief Electoral Officer sent eight urgent emails in seven days to the Election Commission headquarters, repeatedly requesting the rollback facility. A Deputy Election Commissioner in Delhi even instructed the IT chief to facilitate the change so the Supreme Court’s directions could be followed. No action was taken. When Goa published its final roll on 21 February, all 97 names were missing and they remained missing months later. These 97 people lost more than their right to vote. In Goa, several important state schemes ; including medical cover for dialysis, chemotherapy and organ transplants are open only to registered voters. One of the excluded citizens was even turned away from witnessing a property document because his voter ID no longer existed. The episode proves what the two Election Commissioners had been warning about for a year: when the system that records the voter list answers only to a division in Delhi, the decisions of the officers who actually meet the citizens and examine their documents no longer matter. The Election Commission’s long-standing claim that “no one person can touch the roll” stops being true the moment local officers are locked out of their own software.
