A difficult topic is not a sign that you can’t do it.
A bad grade is not the end of your story. Every student learns differently, and every improvement starts with one step forward.

A struggling student isn’t always an unmotivated student. I have met students who seemed distracted, disengaged or difficult to teach. But sometimes, underneath the behaviour was a student who had struggled for so long that they stopped believing they could succeed. Sometimes, the first thing a student needs is to believe they can.

Teaching the student, not just the subject. After teaching hundreds of students, I’ve learned that one explanation will never work for everyone. What makes perfect sense to one student can completely miss another. Good teaching means knowing when to slow down, change the approach, ask better questions, listen and try again.

Parents want results. And they should. But more pressure doesn’t always produce more progress. Sometimes the better question isn’t “Why aren’t you doing better?” but “What are you finding difficult?” Understanding what’s getting in the way helps us give students the support they actually need.
