State school testing isn't perfect, but I'd argue it's our best current approach to accountability. Which means parents and policymakers and everyone need to be able to explore it. That's what we are trying to do with the Education Data Center.

It seems like the NY State Department of Ed may just be planning to ignore the (very likely) errors in the 2025 testing. This is bad! There are struggling schools which did not get funding they should have last year because the scores were inflated.

Data shows it must have been a 2025 coding error... More here and curious if others have more insight.
