Project Re:Fract - NIGHTWALKERS retweeted
@Project_ReFract is working on a NIGHTWALKERS, with an artstyle that pops (very like Danganronpa, AI: the Somnium Files), where there are different play routes with different characters, and I believe each character also has different abilities? Big fan of the art, keep a lookout

Unity's URP 2D lights can be set to interact with one of the RGB channels on a mask texture. It can be used to make cool rim lighting on sprites (Spine 2D too!)
Replying to @Project_ReFract
The 3D background is actually unlit and even the particle effects don't actually light anything. The lighting was painted onto the texture. The sprites use 2D lights that only work when within range. I'll also add alpha channels later on to define more accurate rim lights~

But the 2D and 3D renderers can't be used at the same time. So I can only use *either* 2D or 3D lights. Not an easy decision to make for a 2.5D game. Currently I've been working with 2D lights and unlit 3D environments, but there are limitations. Decisions... decisions...

Lastly, here is Ryker's updated sprite! 🌗 Out of the three main protagonists, he won't be playable yet in the demo. But he will still make an appearance!

And now for Clarinei's redesigned sprite! She's one of the main protagonists of our game~ The biggest concern for her redesign was trying to keep the detective theme while making her fit into the sci-fi world🔍

Thank you to everyone who tried out my silly little powerpoint playtest! 😅 It was encouraging to see players become engaged with the characters and story. And the feedback gathered has been invaluable to improving the game! Next up is a rehaul of the UI, so stay tuned!
