The result of the day in the National League came from Woking FC, who won 5-2 away at Carlisle United, including a hat-trick from veteran striker John Marquis! The Cardinals had a rough start to the season, which wasn't helped by the departure of manager Jermain Defoe before a ball was even kicked, but interim manager and Woking goalkeeper Craig Ross has steadied the ship and overseen the Cards' 5-match unbeaten run. What a run @SportingFC are on! As they made it 8 wins in a row today in all competitions! 👏🏻 the Rouslers who we visited last season had high hopes for this season and they have certainly started very well. Today they won away at @RCWFC to progress through to the FA Trophy first round proper. Last week it was a win in the FA cup against @leektown another club we visited last season. Bromsgrove will face Bury away in the next round. Their other 6 wins have come in the Southern Premier League Central Division including a very impressive 3-2 win on the road against @StratfordTownFC The Rouslers sit 3rd on 21 points from 8 games, only 3 points behind leaders @realbedford We absolutely love to see those clubs we have visited doing well! Especially those who gave us such a great welcome like Bromsgrove did. One of the stand out results in the FA Trophy today was @WinFinchleyFC winning 3-0 away at @realbedford who before todays game had won every game played this season! 10 wins from 10 in all competitions. Wingate who play in the Ismithian league Premier Division travelled to face the money men Real Bedford who play in the Southern Premier League Central Division. Despite Real Bedfords great form, Wingate & Finchley themselves had a massive result last week in the FA Cup, beating Hemel Hempstead Town who are a step higher than them! Today they made it two Cup wins in two weeks and they did it in style. Next week, they will be back in Bedford to face @BedfordTown in the FA Cup who play next door to Real Bedford. They are also a step higher than Wingate & Finchley. Can they make it 2 wins in Bedford in 2 weeks and 3 Cup wins in a row? Today sees the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Trophy take place. 🏆 148 teams from Steps (3) and (4) are left in the competition at this stage, which will then be whittled down to 64 in the first round proper. The second round proper will see the 48 teams from the National League South and North (step 2) join the competition, followed by the 24 teams from the National League, who join the fray in the 3rd round proper. What a night for Northern Ireland as they win 1-0 away in Tbilisi against Georgia! A last minute goal from Shea Charles was enough for the 3 points. The 60 Green and White army were overjoyed at the end in what was a strange atmosphere. It was officially a game played behind closed doors but 60 Northern Ireland fans who booked before UEFA announced the ban were still allowed to travel + there were 6,000 under 14s fans from Georgia associated to local clubs. THE MAGIC OF THE FA CUP! 🏆 Last night we made our first-ever visit to National League South side Farnham Town FC for their FA Cup 2nd qualifying round replay against Tier 9 Cirencester Town FC, hoping to witness an FA Cup upset. And we weren't disappointed! The Hellenic League Premier Division side, who held their opponents to a 2-2 draw last Saturday, caused a massive shock and beat Farnham Town, who play 3 levels above, 2-1 with a last-minute winner after coming from behind! What a night of FA Cup upsets it was last night in the 2nd qualifying round replays! 🏆 stealing the show were @CirenTownFC who are step 5 and went away to step 2 @FarnhamTownFC and won 2-1. As we enter the (unwanted) international break, just after many domestic football leagues have only just got underway, there is a surprise name at the top of the Turkish Sűper Lig! 🇹🇷 After 6 games, you would expect to see one of the Turkish big boys leading the way, be it one of the 3 Istanbul giants, Galatasaray, Fenerbaçhe, Beşiktaș or Trabzonspor, with all 4 teams spending heavily in the summer, bringing in the likes of Mohamed Salah, Leandro Trossard, Mason Greenwood, Nathan Ake and Rafael Leão to name a few. But top of the pile at the moment is a club called Amad Sportif! Amad were promoted to the Sűper Lig for the first time in their 53-year history after finishing runners-up last season in the second tier! The club, who are more commonly known as Amadspor, is based in Diyarbakır, which is the largest Kurdish -majority city in Türkiye and considered to be one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world, dating back to 8,000 BC! As a club based in one of the largest cities in the predominantly Kurdish southeast of Turkey, Amedspor openly embraces a Kurdish identity. The club started out as an amateur club and only entered the professional league in 1994 after being promoted to the TFF 3. League (4th tier) after winning the Super Amateur League. They have risen steadily up through the leagues and were still in the third tier as recently as 2024! Two more promotions in the next 3 campaigns saw them make their debut in the top league this season, and last night's 3-2 win over Beşiktaş now sees them astonishingly top of the league on goal difference with 13 points! We know it's only early days, but it's always great to see a lesser-known side in one of the big leagues going well and hopefully breaking the mould. Yes, you really are reading this right.. Cole Palmer has pulled out of the England squad due to "Load management" the poor little lad is tired... Game has gone! And these players are quite frankly a joke. Chelsea have played 5 Premier league games, Palmer also had the summer off as well remember but he's too tired to represent his country. Im sure we will see a photo of him in the Caribbean in a weeks time 😂 a lovely 3 weeks off. I wonder if we can all get away with it! Maybe time is up for 74 year old Martin O'Neil as his Celtic side have been humbled twice in a week by rivals Rangers as well as losing their first Europa League game against Ferencváros at home. They also blew a 4-0 lead against LASK to lose 5-4 and ruin any champions league hopes.
