The Vikings just benched their tenth overall pick. Kyler Murray is Minnesota's starting quarterback. J.J. McCarthy, the tenth pick in the 2024 draft, is the backup. Here's the part nobody is talking about. Minnesota pays Murray one point three million dollars. Arizona released him in March and still owes him thirty six point eight million this season, guaranteed back in his 2022 extension. So the Cardinals are covering the other thirty five and a half million for a quarterback who now starts for somebody else. McCarthy threw twelve interceptions against eleven touchdowns in ten starts last season, and missed seven games hurt. His final four starts were better though: five touchdowns and two interceptions.
