Zimbabwe has become a country of misplaced priorities: luxury cars for the connected while hospitals lack critical equipment, municipalities fail to provide clean water, roads crumble, ZERO industries, poor public transport and millions struggle for decent work.
Our country must work for all, not the connected few.
WATCH | Wicknell Chivayo has announced a major gift to United Family International Church (UFIC), rewarding 12 long-serving members for their service to the church. The gifts include:
- 10 female and male ushers will each receive a brand-new Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD-6 and US$10,000 cash for fuel.
-Two outstanding church leaders, one male and one female, will each receive a 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 ZX and US$20,000 cash for fuel.
Chivayo said the gifts are meant to recognise loyal members who have served the church quietly over the years, particularly those who have been part of UFIC since its early days.
He asked Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa and Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa to identify the beneficiaries. The vehicles have reportedly already been paid for and will be delivered once the beneficiaries are selected.

HRF condemns baseless terrorism charges that the regime of Tanzania’s dictator Samia Suluhu Hassan has filed against 61 Tanzanians — including opposition members and university lecturers and students — who were arbitrarily detained in the regime's violent crackdown on planned but suppressed Saba Saba protests of July 7. Zimbabwe: Human rights defender arbitrarily detained: Bhekimpilo Mbedzi
On 10 July, human rights defender Bhekimpilo Mbedzi was arbitrarily arrested and is being detained after he posted a video on social media calling for protests against the recently enacted Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3. He faces charges of ‘inciting an unlawful gathering’ with the State alleging that he failed to notify the relevant authorities of the planned gathering.
The Zimbabwean authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Bhekimpilo Mbedzi as he is detained solely for the peaceful exercise of his human rights.

Women’s rights are human rights!
We are all entitled to human rights. These include the right to live free from violence and discrimination; to enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health; to be educated; to own property; to vote; and to earn an equal wage.
But across the globe, many women and girls still face discrimination on the basis of sex and gender. Gender inequality underpins many problems which disproportionately affect women and girls, such as domestic and sexual violence, lower pay, lack of access to education, and inadequate healthcare.
Through research, advocacy and campaigning, Amnesty International pressures the people in power to respect women’s rights.

Serrote José de Oliveira, known as General Nila, was released today, 23 July 2026, from Calomboloca Prison after spending almost a year in pretrial detention.
His release follows a decision by the Luanda Court of Appeal, which upheld his habeas corpus appeal and concluded that his detention was unlawful because the legal requirements and conditions for pretrial detention had not been met.
Although this is good news, it is not the end.
@amnesty believes he should never have been arrested in the first place. He must be allowed to exercise his rights and resume his activism without limitations.
General Nila will await the next stages of the proceedings from home, subject to an identity and residence order, a requirement to report to the authorities every fifteen days, and a prohibition on leaving Angola.
