A bit of history dies here. In the early days of shoutcasting, before video hosting, folks would record the audio of themselves commentating and supply it alongside a replay file for download.
So I dug deeper into this...
It seems like the issue is that people are vibecoding scripts that scrape the data off of 1000s of public replays to then vibecode bots that learns off of them.
1. How does Riot even combat this?
2. Why does AI ruin literally everything?

That's actually where the term "Shoutcast" comes from, it was the name of the service a lot of early shoutcasters used to host their audio.
Casters would even have to do counts or other tricks to help their audiences sync things up between files.

League's history doesn't directly overlap here, but a lot of their early commentary talent does. You can still find clips in some places, like this video @theScoreesports posted seven years ago.

Reflecting a bit on the @FuturePlay_Fest Collegiate Esports Showdown.
This has been a crazy project for myself and @GSEsportsorg more broadly. While we've been thinking about this event for awhile now, its spent a year in active development across production and commentary.

Meanwhile, @DJTJRL gets his own post in here. Literal Rocket League machine. Lead the broadcast both on and off camera. Owner of some of the hypest calls on Championship Sunday. Effortlessly showcased the best of esports in every capacity he held.

Fun storyline for the VGC Masters today: #pokemonworlds
🇯🇵 cona (Hiroshi Onishi) is a Keio University graduate, while 🇯🇵 Watson (Takuma Yamazaki) graduated from Waseda University, and apparently both were involved in their universities’ Pokémon clubs.
Waseda vs Keio is one of Japan’s most famous traditional university rivalries. Think Oxford vs Cambridge in the UK, or Harvard vs Yale in the US. The two schools have been compared and competed against each other for generations, especially in sports.
So today we basically have a Pokémon version of the Waseda-Keio rivalry on the Worlds stage.
Apparently there are quite a few Waseda and Keio alumni in the audience too, so now some of us are wondering if we’re going to hear each side’s university fight songs during the match 🤓

Hi! I don’t tweet often, but I lead global Influencer for TFT and work closely with our creator community, including on Convergence Fest.
Since notices just went out, I wanted to share some transparency into how we evaluate creator applications & opportunities 🧵

THANK YOU #PokemonWorlds
This was my wife and my first Pokemon Championship event. Pokemon has always occupied a very special place in my heart (as childhood Pikachu plush I carried around showcased).
It was such a fun time with so many incredible folks from across the world...
