Good article. One thing I would add is that men like romance, they just don't usually want the story to be ABOUT romance. They want the romance to be happening in the midst of, or becuase of the action and adventure that's taking place.

I think one of the strong appeals of Malfoid beyond the obvious is this idea of a woman whose has a carefully cultivated masculinised persona, then through an unexpected attraction to a man and is unable to maintain this constructed persona no matter how hard she tries. Against her will, the true feminized self emerges from within. In an abstract sense, it is the unnatural and the chaotic being defeated and wiped away by the natural and the ordered. Ive thought about doing some malfoid scene rewrites, but its been decades since I've read harry potter and while I really liked the books, I was never a super fan. So I'll leave the fanfics to those who are who are really passionate and excited to write. (plus I have way too many book I need to get finished)

all my writing homies joining the Malfandom
It has a finished outline. It has a title. It has an (AI, for now) cover. It is not fanfic or alternate universe—the story is Malfoid-inspired but is an original story, in an original setting, with original characters...and has a lot of the Malfoid-HP dynamic that people are enjoying right now, I hope. My primary project (Dredgate duology) will still get most of my attention; I'm 43k into the story with no end in sight. I can't abandon that this deep into it. I must be going insane...but my story about Malfoid riding dragons will come, and hopefully start to take shape in the coming weeks. Stay tuned. Thank you.

The author version is when you are not so bad that your writing is unitintionally hilarious, but not good enough people will pay to read what you write.
there is an artistic area where you are too skilled to be charmingly bad but not skilled enough to be unironically good. this is what I call the untalented valley

Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test. 48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video. It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Community note
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. Griffin-Lite leads NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark on their public leaderboard. cellcog.ai/blog/tavus-gri… research.nvidia.com/labs/amri/proj… tech-ish.com/2026/10/02/tav…

Why? Why do we need fake humans to talk to? Why do we need them to be so realistic that most people can't tell they are fake? In what possible way does this improve the lives of us(humans)?
The whole point of building Tavus has been simple: talking to a machine should feel as natural as talking to a friend or coworker. It’s hard to describe all the tiny nuances that make a conversation feel human. The little expressions. Moving around in your chair. Knowing when to speak and when to listen. The dance of it all. Griffin is by far the closest anyone has come to a model that can capture those nuances. The first time I saw it being used, I had no idea I was watching our model rather than just a normal video call. I’m so incredibly proud of this team and what they’ve built.
