What happens when a landscape architect starts thinking like a farmer?
For PhD candidate Mingyu Zhao, it means exploring how wetlands, conservation policy intersects with agriculture, while keeping farmers' perspectives at the center of the conversation.
Beginning his professional journey in Singapore and now studying ecology science and engineering and @PurdueHortLA, Mingyu’s interdisciplinary journey gives him a broad perspective and a deeper understanding of what it means to walk in farmers' shoes.

At 15, Phillip Nelson was named Indiana State Fair Tomato King after exhibiting 24 perfect tomatoes. Decades later, his work helped develop technology that allows tomato paste and orange juice to be safely stored and shipped worldwide — earning him the @WorldFoodPrize.
As founding head of @PurdueFoodSci, Nelson brought that same entrepreneurial spirit to building industry partnerships and preparing students for successful careers.
Today, Purdue Food Science continues his legacy of innovation and collaboration, ranking No. 6 in the nation by @USNewsand_World.

We are celebrating 75 years of agricultural partnership with the Federal University of Viçosa!
In 1951, @LifeAtPurdue faculty members traveled more than 4,000 miles to begin a collaboration based on teaching, research and institutional development.
Since, more than 90 Purdue faculty and staff members have taught courses, helped establish graduate programs and worked alongside Brazilian colleagues to strengthen agricultural research and education.

Scientists from @LifeAtPurdue are exploring the molecular processes in petunia flowers that could help improve crop health and advance pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products.
Supported by an @NSF grant, the project examines how specialized metabolites regulate gene activity and how enzymes sense changes in metabolite levels. Researchers @LiPurdue, Natalia Dudareva, Jing Liu and Yiwei Huang are collaborating on the work.

Researchers from @LifeAtPurdue are advancing molecular diagnostics with three new instruments designed to improve testing accuracy, accessibility and affordability.
The ThermiQuant™ instruments — created by @PurdueABE's @vermalab — are designed for a different setting and scale of use, with samples maintained at a constant temperature.
This technology has the capability to support applications in human and animal health, as well as food safety and environmental monitoring, in all settings.
