Why is Adel A. Zakaria (MSIE ’70 PhD IE ’73) a Purdue Engineering hero?
His lucrative career at @JohnDeere resulted in the successful launch of 250 new products, contributing to the doubling of sales to $7 billion annually. So, what better time to honor this outstanding @purdue_ie alum than during the annual John Deere Day on Monday? Company representatives will be on campus sharing cutting-edge technology and providing internship opportunities and career insights.
Zakaria began his career teaching engineering at the State University College of New York. In 1976, he moved to John Deere as a staff engineer, focusing on developing software for machine parts, machine-tool utilization and computer-aided process planning. In 1995, he was promoted to senior vice president of engineering and manufacturing for the Worldwide Agricultural Equipment Division. In 1997, he was instrumental in achieving a historic labor settlement between John Deere and the United Auto Workers.
