Statement and Reminder Regarding the Use of the Pi Name, Logo, and Paid Membership Cards
Recently, we have become aware that in parts of the Vietnam community, certain membership or identification cards are being produced using names such as Pi or Pi GCV, together with the Pi logo, and that money is being collected through card sales or membership fees.
We do not intend to target any individual or organization, nor do we wish to create unnecessary controversy. However, to protect Pioneers, respect the Pi Network brand, and support the healthy long-term development of the community, we believe a reminder is appropriate.
Supporting Pi and Commercial Use of the Pi Brand Are Different Matters
According to Pi Network’s published trademark guidelines, the use of the Pi name, trademarks, and logo is subject to specific rules. Commercial use without appropriate authorization may fall outside permitted use.
Therefore, sharing, promoting, and supporting Pi is different from using the Pi name or logo on paid membership cards, products, or commercial services.
Pi Network has also previously warned about unauthorized activities involving “membership fees and sales of products.”
Accordingly, when the Pi name or logo is used on a paid membership card, whether appropriate authorization has been obtained is a reasonable and important question.
Using the name “Pi GCV” or another community name does not by itself remove the need to respect Pi Network’s trademark rules. Good intentions should always be accompanied by respect for established boundaries.
Potential Risks
The Global GCV Movement is not a court or law-enforcement authority. We therefore do not declare any individual or organization “illegal” or “criminal” without an appropriate legal determination.
However, if the Pi name or logo is used commercially without the necessary authorization, the trademark owner may seek to stop such use and require unauthorized branding to be removed.
Depending on the facts and applicable law, unauthorized commercial use may also result in trademark infringement claims, administrative enforcement, cessation of related commercial activities, removal of infringing products or materials, financial liability, or other legal consequences.
Whether a particular activity constitutes infringement or another legal violation must ultimately be determined by the relevant rights holder, authorities, or courts under applicable law.
If appropriate authorization exists, making it transparent can resolve many concerns. If it does not, those involved should carefully reconsider the activity and avoid unnecessary legal risk.
Our Position
We respect everyone who sincerely supports Pi and contributes to community development. Our intention is not to create confrontation.
Our principles are simple:
If money is collected, be transparent.
If business is conducted, follow the rules.
If another party’s brand is used, respect its rights.
If the Pi name or logo is used, follow Pi Network’s applicable guidelines.
Pioneers also have the right to know who is collecting the money, why fees are being charged, how the funds are being used, and whether the necessary authorization has been obtained when Pi branding is used commercially.
These are not hostile questions. They reflect the basic transparency expected of a responsible community.
Our purpose is not to attack anyone, but to encourage respect for the rules, protect the trust of Pioneers, and safeguard the long-term reputation of the community.
Respecting the rules protects Pi, Pioneers, and everyone involved in the community.
