This Stag is a blend of abstract marks and textures, with impressionism and realism
This is a style that has intrigued me this year and I continue to experiment with it
Part of my Festive Studio Sale a great entry for starting your collection or adding to it
'King of the Forest' 12x12" acrylic on canvas.
This is another painting that I painted in February. I knew I wanted to 'loosen up' and create interest in the whole painting, rather than just the subject.
After figuring out an interesting pose, i just left the brushes do the work without trying to force a vision. I'm so used to painting 'things' this is sometimes harder than it would appear 😄
People have strong opinions on abstract art, and although I enjoy a lot of it, it is something I find harder to do. This painting takes the subject of the Stag and merges the background with it. It's a way of giving the painting a feel to it and some energy.
So after sitting on it for almost 3 months, thinking this wouldn't be many people's cup of tea, it just so happens to be favoured highest amongst the 4 Stag pieces o released earlier this month - there's a lesson there 😁
