25 years ago, even 15, 10 years ago, we weren't able to replay the event like this. Media and technology have made it possible for those of us who experienced the event in real time to feel it again in an entirely new way.
If you are able to walk down the street without your face in a phone and/or able to look at and listen to what a person in front of you is saying, you are functioning at superhuman capacity. You are essentially a demigod.

Personally I think it's a brilliant strategy to have your sport's marquee players competing at 2 AM. You don't want to make it too accessible, too easy for fans to watch. Kind of like how supermarkets place staple items on the bottom shelf in the middle of the aisle.
