Think carefully. 100 senators. 435 House members. Hundreds of well-paid and educated staffers. Do you really think that none of them ever thought, “we should really clean this up. It would cost virtually nothing and the people would love it.” Of course many of them thought that. But they all stayed quiet. For decades. Which means they all knew better than to bring it up. Let me be clear: every dumpy park in every major city is being purposefully kept that way. Park maintenance is dirt cheap. They don’t lack the money. And it’s not that they don’t care. They know our rulers WANT ugly parks.
