My vow on this day, this dark anniversary, is to directly challenge evil where I can and should, but to marginalize the voices that promote destruction of what is good and sacred, and those that intentionally inflict pain for their own enjoyment, satisfaction, and power. Profound events shine the brightest lights on character, and this last year has exposed raw, those that do this for sport, money, and power. As we have seen, prominence in media, politics, and social media amplify these voices beyond all normalcy, and there are so many. We don't have to bow to that, we don't have to put up with it in our daily lives. Call it evil, call it sociopathic narcissism, call it what you like, but I'm choosing to live free from it. Block, mute, ignore, fire a barb or two, but move-on. It's time to end the engagement and the natural emotional hold it has on some of us. Understand it for what it is. It's not normal, it's not interesting, and it doesn't deserve our energy or attention.
