1 more game before the international break here in Germany and then a much needed holiday after being on the road since early August. A development to share is I’ll be back on ESPN/ABC La Liga commentary from time to time once club ⚽️ returns. Looking forward to it.

He had a wonderful life but still very sad to hear this. As a Fenway goer during the Morgan years, first on holidays & then after moving to Boston, he was, as he said, the skipper of this nine! Massachusetts (Walpole) to the core & helped make the Red Sox fun. R.I.P Joe Morgan.

The good things for fans here in Germany flow from 50+1 helping pack venues in the top 2 divisions. Without it, would we have things like public transport in the local area as part of the ticket? 13-15 Euro match tickets? Fans as decision making participants, not customers?

West Ham were relegated. 50,000 season tickets sold. No-one deserted them. Wolves pulled 30,000 at the weekend. Larger than their average attendance last season. No-one is deserting them either. Fans loyalty is nothing to with the 50+1 model.

Always think a lot of casual observers outside Germany underestimate what makes football tick in this country, the local community factor. Köln may not be of wide interest to casual fans globally but here in the city, it’s always all about #effzeh irrespective of league/position.

People here don’t pay too much attention to whether there’s a title race or not. More interesting is if Köln (6 relegations since 1998) stay up. But even if they go down, no one deserts them. And it’s this devotion, crazy atmosphere that is German football‘s best selling point.

These things are due in large part to 50+1 & the accessibility/affordability it promotes. Take away these things & you take away what might attract someone to visit 🇩🇪 for ⚽️ in the first place. Important to understand before someone advocates copying Premier League values.
