Built a full video editor in one day.
Then spent a month making the timeline feel right.
71 commits, 164 files, ~27,700 lines. Roughly 80% of the commits went into the last 20% of the perceived work.
The build was: skeleton and auth, media pipeline, editor, export via Remotion with an ffmpeg fast path, transcription and captions, semantic search and an editing agent, vision and auto-reframe, audio and music preview. Seven milestones, one sitting.
The month after was timeline feel. Windowed filmstrips and waveforms, pan and wheel handling, overlap-free drops, dwell-to-insert, playback follow, tap versus pan on touch, captions bound to their parent clip, a magnetic main track.
None of that shows up in a feature list. All of it decides whether the thing is usable.
