This shot only shows ~84 million stars in just the central bulge. The whole Milky Way has an estimated 100–400 billion stars — about 1,200 to 4,800 times more than what’s in the image.

The galaxy is a very large place but it's 450 billion stars are beyond insignificant along side the 2.37 trillion galaxies surrounding it. So many friends to meet.

The noise is too much for my eyes.

Brother that’s my countertop.

I counted 84 million and 1.

That's incredible. No way I could load a 9-gigapixel image into any image viewer app on my computer. The video is a great way of viewing it though.

Looks much like creamy quartz with sulfides but ehh dats just me.

spent way too long clicking around in this, the scale is honestly impossible to wrap my head around. thanks for sharing the link, feels like looking into infinity

In the military, when night vision goggles are worn well away from any city lights and you look at the stars.... All I can say is WOW!!!!!! Your naked eye can only process 1 Billionth of what is actually out there.

Wtf, 84 million stars? My phone can't handle that. Feels like a cosmic Netflix binge.

All of this exists in quantum density deep within you. Just be aware of it—don't talk about it.

Wow. Just…wow.

😍
