No matter how many people on X say Figma is dead and AI can build websites now, I still see a very different reality. I talked to some of my designer friends, and most of them still design in Figma first. Some haven’t even explored AI that much yet. It really shows how much of a bubble X can be. Meanwhile, somewhere out there, people are just using ChatGPT to turn their photos into Ghibli style images.

Here’s how we avoid AI slop UI. For the last couple of weeks, we’ve been testing different AI workflows while building Velox Themes 2.0. What works best for us so far? We still design everything in Figma first, polish it until we’re happy with it, then let Codex or Claude handle the code. From what we’ve tested, AI is really good at replicating a direction you give it. But when we ask it to come up with something fresh from scratch, we usually still need to step in and give it a strong creative direction. That’s why I don’t think the creative part goes away with AI. Your ideas, taste, and creative direction still play a huge role. AI just helps you build them much faster. That’s also why we’re building a design library where you can find inspiration for your next website, then let your AI agent build it for you by copying the prompt or HTML. Our newest template took longer than we expected because we wanted it to feel unique and stand out from the rest. Pretty satisfied with the results!

What if you could mix and match sections from different templates to build a new website? That’s the idea I’m testing for our new platform at Velox Themes. I connected Framer to Sol 5.6 High and asked it to take the Logo and Works sections from our Sanjaya template and bring them into Sadewa. But instead of just copying them, the Agent had to: Match Sadewa’s design style. Keep the existing CMS content connected. Keep everything working. It took some time, but it got everything right from one prompt. I only needed a second prompt to add the scroll animation. And this basically validated my idea. If the Agent can do this, our customers will be able to mix and match sections from our templates and build the website they want. They can pick the sections they like, tell the Agent what they want, and launch their own design without getting stuck in the building process. Here’s the prompt I used 👇
