Absolutely not lol we always say “French from {insert African country our parents come from}” y’all just saying shit to say shit atp.
The reality of the situation is blackness as a status does not exist without Africa, you’re either non diasporic so African from the continent or diasporic & so then Black American, Black Brazilian, French from x…
The thing is blackness doesn’t get specified not because we do not identify with it but because our identity goes beyond a color, I am black in France BUT I am black BECAUSE my roots are {African country} so since we know the origin we just mention it directly instead of stopping at the color.
Everything will be well once ppl understand blackness will NEVER be a monolith, ppl in America stick to “black Anerican”, that’s their way of presenting themselves, & ppl say y’all dk your origins bc unlike us you don’t mention the origin beyond America.
Or it’s continent-continent (African American) while us we do country-country as I explained.
Being black still very much impact existing in the French society so it not being mentioned doesn’t mean we don’t identify with it we do.
I find the opposite to be true, which is why Afro-French just call themselves French but we call ourselves Black Americans
