President Xi's words on health as the most important indicator of people's happiness are deeply meaningful. And mental health is part of that.
But in Papergames' (上海叠纸公司) Love and Deepspace (恋与深空) community, that principle is being violated. The canceled character, Valko's supporters have faced months of relentless cyberbullying, doxxing, and harassment from toxic players. One supporter was driven to the brink of suicide after the bullies had her small business exposed and destroyed. These are real women, whose mental health has been severely damaged.
Papergames has done nothing for that player and dismissed the near-suicide attempt as a rumor, reported posts on China's platforms that exposed it, and allowed the cyberbullying to continue unchecked. This is not just a gaming issue. It is a public health issue. It is a human issue which affects many Chinese people.
I agree that health is truly the most important indicator of people's happiness. Yet in Papergames' community, cyberbullying has been allowed to thrive, causing players real distress and lasting damage to their mental health for months.
I respectfully urge the authorities to investigate Papergames and push them to address these failures, especially their lack of concern for players, their siding with bullies, and their indifference toward those who have been cyberbullied in their community. Thank you.
